Add KPI dialog

Use this dialog to provide a label for a KPI usage or to pin (or set) the value of one or more KPI dimensions.

Pinning is optional. Typically, it is best not to pin most of the dimensions so that the data is controlled by the point of view settings. See "What Are Dimensions and Pinned Dimension Values?" for additional information about pinning.

You pin values of KPI dimensions, for example, when you add a KPI to one of the following tables:

• Initiatives & KPIs watchlist in the "Analytics pane" of the "Scorecard editor: Initiative Details tab"

• Objectives & KPIs table in the in the "Analytics pane" of the "Scorecard editor: Initiative Details tab"

• New KPI watchlist in the "KPI Watchlist editor: Performance tab"

When you view the KPI, the data displayed is determined by the dimension values that you selected.

Components

KPI Name

Displays the name of the saved KPI that you are adding (for example, Revenue KPI).

Subject Area

Displays the name of the subject area that contains the KPI dimension or dimensions.

<Dimension>

This box is not available for a dimension whose value has been set in the KPI.

Use this box to specify a dimension value. Consider the following options:

• For all dimensions, you can select a column value or roll up value (for example, for the Dimensions.Geog dimension, you can drill and select North American, or drill further and select Los Angeles).

• Select Point-of-View to set no dimension value. If you use this option, at runtime a dimension field displays in the point of view area where the user can select a dimension value.

• For measures column, you can select Use Variable to set the dimension's value with either a session or repository variable. When you select this option, the "Select Variable dialog" displays. See "Using Variables" for additional information.

Label

Use this field to enter a user-friendly, descriptive KPI name to display in the watchlist or the Objectives & KPIs table.
